Visit to Stan’s Bike Shack

April 29, 2015 by Clive Leave a Comment

Update December 2021: Sadly, Stan’s Bike Shack is no longer open. Shame.

I cycled to Partridge Green recently and decided to pay a visit to Stan’s Bike Shack when I was there. Any excuse for a coffee and cake, eh?!

I had been told about Stan’s, which opened last year, but not had a chance to visit before. And, since it’s on one of my regular routes, I felt obliged to stop there!

Stan’s is just outside Partridge Green (heading south) after the Downs Link trail crosses the B2135 road. It’s in an ideal position for hungry and thirsty cyclists and walkers using the bridleway.

It was a sunny Spring day and I arrived at Stan’s in the late morning to discover that a few other people had the same idea. The place was packed! The sunny weather helped of course but finding a place so popular is always a good sign.

There is an outside seating area and the café itself is a wooden building on the edge of a farm field. There’s plenty of space to park bicycles in front or at the side of the building.

Inside, I ordered a coffee and flapjack before taking a seat outside in the sun. There was a wait for my order but the waitress was very helpful and the flapjack was just what I needed before cycling back to Horsham. Stan’s sells a variety of drinks and snacks and I’m sure I’ll be tempted on another occasion to have breakfast or lunch there.

Overall, Stan’s Bike Shack is a friendly and welcoming café in a great location for the Downs Link. There was a great vibe when I was there with people talking and enjoying the food and drink. I’ll definitely be stopping there on my regular cycle rides to Bramber and back in the summer!
