My cycling mojo is back!

July 26, 2015 by Clive Leave a Comment

At the end of last year, and for the start of 2015, I had a quiet period when I didn’t cycle as much as normal. I posted an article about why I was running more and that was one reason why I cycled less. Also, I fell out of love with cycling distances just to achieve a yearly target and I mentioned that in my yearly review of 2014. Overall, I just needed a bit of a break from cycling.

It’s the middle of 2015 now and I’m happy to say that my cycling mojo is back! I’ve had a few good months where I’ve covered a lot of miles and cycled some fun routes and trips, near Horsham where I live and on a weekend trip to Norfolk.

I’ve thought about why my love of cycling has returned.  One reason is that I’ve entered some of the challenges on Strava and the monthly nature of these feels about right. I’ve taken part in the May, June and July monthly training series (MTS) challenges where the target is 250 km (or more). And, I’ve tackled the Gran Fondo 130 challenge (130 km in a single ride in July).

The other reason for getting back in the saddle more is my hybrid bike which had a service earlier in the year. The service fixed a really annoying clicking sound and the bike has been running great since.  It makes all the difference if you feel in love with your bike!

Overall, I’m looking forward to the rest of the year. I plan to stick with the monthly challenges and cycle a few different routes so that I don’t lose the cycling fun factor!
